HELP MAKE Yellow Bike's NEW Headquarters Become A reality!
Work will soon begin on our new 3,000 sq ft shop at 12th and Webberville. We are signing a 50 year lease with the City of Austin granting us the use of 3/4 of an acre which will become our new home. We need your support to make it happen.

The Dream - We are looking forward to creating a hub for the Austin bicycling community. The site will host our regular free workshops as well as expanded daytime operations, summer camps, flexible meeting space open to the cycling community, and community gardens.

About the site - The site is located at the intersections of 12th Street, Webberville Road and Springdale Road next to Simms Elementary. All three roads have major bike lanes, which we took to be a sign. The front 1/3rd of the lot facing Webberville has a small forest where we plan to setup a picnic table and outdoor meeting space. The rest of the grounds not occupied by the building will be developed into community gardens and landscaped to do justice to a 50 year home. We are working to get a site plan approved by the city to develop the site. We hope to have this process complete within the next month.

About the building - We will construct a 3000 sq ft. warehouse much like our current facility. We will abut our building to an existing 1000 sq ft. slab that will serve as additional storage. With the generous support of several volunteer architects we have designed the space to be as comfortable as possible using passive heating/cooling and day-lighting techniques. The southern wall of the workshop area will open up in the warm months giving plenty of air flow and allowing us to work outside.

We need your help - To make the shop a reality we are calling on friends of Yellow Bike to provide volunteers, materials, and funds. Read below to see how you can help.

Volunteers - We will need volunteers at every step of creating our new shop. If you are interested in relocating our shop by bike, creating shop storage solutions, painting murals, landscaping, or laying concrete forms for good causes we would love your help. Sign-up here and let us know how you can help.

Human Powered Move Part II - 2.4 miles, 11 years of bike parts...
On Saturday June 21st 10am once again we will attempt to move a Yellow Bike shop with human power. We will be moving every bike, bike part, tool, and work stand in the 51st street shop to our new site at 1200 Webberville. (read more...)

Professional Assistance - We need an array of professional assistance to pass building code and successfully complete this project. Of particular need are licensed plumbers, electricians and general contractors who would be willing to donate some of their time. We are also looking for professional publicists and accountants to support us in the next year. Yellow Bike is a 501c(3) non-profit organization; if you are willing to donate any or all of your services your gift will be tax deductible. Sign-up here.

Donate Building Materials - To reduce the cost of the project we will accept discounts or full donations of materials necessary to complete the building. This includes concrete, prefabricated warehouses, lumber, plumbing and electrical materials, windows, doors, plants. Sign-up here.

Monetary Donations - We have a goal to raise $250,000 to fund site work and construction of the new building. Over the last 5 years of shop operations we have raised $80,000 through slim operating expenses and the generous support of the community. In lieu of purchasing land for the project, we have worked with the city to secure a 50 year lease on 3/4 of an acre of Central Austin real estate. All that is left now is to create a facility that will serve us for the next 50 years.

Over the years thousands have benefited from our shop. Last year alone 2,000 came through our doors.
Here are some donation levels to make things easy :
  Rusty Chain - $20
  Cracked Aluminum - $50
  Lugged Steel - $200
  Carbon Fiber - $1,000+
